mayor of London seeks greener supplies

Boris Johnson the eccentric mayor of London is holding an event aimed at those interested in becoming a green supplier to the city council. in conjunction with London Remade organisation, a not for profit company creating eco and environmental solutions for a sustainable capital.

The Green Procurement Code Exchange: Becoming a Supplier on greener eco products or services will take place on the 14 September, in the afternoon at the America Square Conference Centre in the City.
The rise in eco/environmental regulations and legislation for UK businesses means that sustainability and environmental compliance have become incredibly important issues in the office and business world. Bigger companies, especially those in the public sector, increasingly expect their suppliers to match or exceed their environmental standards.

This event aims to provide information and advice to small suppliers such as office supplies companies, printers, telecoms supplies, builders or any potential supplier on improving their environmental and green credentials and becoming green suppliers to large organisations. Delegates attending will hear from keynote speakers in the private and public sector on what they expect from suppliers and how suppliers and providers can increase their chances of winning big business contracts.
Confirmed speakers include Andrew MacAskill of Skanska and David Wathey of the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency.
Following the eco presentations delegates will get the opportunity to attend an exhibition, where they can get further advice on supplying their goods and services to large organisations from the public and private sector. Confirmed exhibitors include Heart of the City and LRS.
The event is free but priority will be given to signatories of the Green Procurement Code but to request a registration form e-mail Jodi@londonremade.com. To sign up to the Green Procurement Code visit http://www.greenprocurementcode.co.uk/?q=user/register.
